If LCD televisions were the hit of 2007, LED televisions are likely the hit of 2010.
With more versatility and energy efficiency than a standard LCD panel, LED-fired flat-panel televisions are becoming cheaper and more commonplace. LG, the South Korean electronics company, is likely to be among the leaders in the growing segment.
The flagship model in LG’s LED line is the LH90 series. Screen sizes are 55 inches ($3,199.95), 47 inches ($2,399.95) and 42 inches ($1,899.95). The LH90 televisions just started shipping near the end of July, so it’s likely the usual online discounts won’t be very deep.

Powered by light-emitting diodes (LEDs), Samsung’s Luxia televisions promise a thinner design — the panels are just 1.2 inches deep — and cutting-edge picture technology.
